smores smores smores

It was a gorgeous day on Monday, we decided to make smores. Greg and Andrew built a fire. I made a smore for Russell and he didn't like it put together so I took it apart and he just wanted the chocolate. He sat by the tray the whole time telling us how much he liked chocolate and he really likes chocolate can he please have more!! What a cutie, he really likes chocolate - he is obviously my kid. Melissa came out and made one and then told us she really doesn't like smores or roasted marshmellows so Andrew ate it, she had a ton of homework so she went inside. Howard loved the smores, I think he could have eaten them all night. We had such a great time, it was nice to be outside and relax as a family. Andrew told me I should type in here they really had fun. :)

Squeaky Peanuts

Grandma T sent a package last week that was full of these fun peanuts. I was making dinner and Russell emptied them all out. He had so much fun running and sliding and jumping around I just had to take a picture. (This was another one of my lost pictures). The whole time he was playing in them the peanuts kept squeaking and Melissa hated it. She whined about the noise and wouldn't come down to dinner until he quit playing with them. I couldn't make him stop when you can tell he is having a ball. Of course the cleanup took forever they flew everywhere. Oh well.

Lost Quilt picture

I thought I had lost this picture but found it hidden in my pictures. This is the quilt I made in 2 days.

Sick Again

We took Andrew to the doctor yesterday and did blood work and x rays on his sinuses. It has been a long sick winter for him. He was never sick last year. Blood work was fine. But he has a sinus infection. He has been on every prescription this year soo he gets to be on Augmentin for 3 weeks instead of the 10 days. Fun huh. I am so looking forward to Spring and less sickness. (I hope).

Oops-Quick Quilt

I was cooking dinner on Monday when Greg got home from work and asked me if I had finished a quilt for the lady he works with-aahh. I had totally forgotten. Greg asked me in January and I just spaced it. He informed me the shower was on Wed. So of course I had to look through my fabric and find something I could make for a baby girl. I don't know what the deal is with yellow but I have been on a yellow kick. So guess what I did Monday and Tuesday night. I did finish the quilt and even played in the dirt (weeding-I like weeding) for an hour while the younger boys played outside. It was 70 degrees yesterday and I definitely wanted to be outside instead of in.. I guess I know now that in a pinch I can finish a baby quilt in 2 days- though I prefer to take a little longer. ok--I was going to show you a picture but can't seem to find them on my camera. If I find them I will post it later.

Sweet Birthday

I had a great birthday. Greg took me to cracker barrel for breakfast. yum. my dear friend Melissa gave me chocolate and a coupon for a chocolate treat the first wednesday of every month for a year. Yea!! She makes the best desserts. I can't wait until next month. This is one of my favorite she gave me.

Mint Chocolate Chip cookies
1 pkg mint chocolate chips
1 c margerine
1 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 c flour
Melt 3/4 c of chips. While chips are melting, cream margarine, both sugars and vanilla. Blend in eggs. Blend in melted chips. Add dry ingredients. Stir in remaining mint chips. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 10 min at 350. enjoy.

Sickies

Just for the record this has been a long, sick winter. My kids have been so sick, I have used most of my pto on them. Which I love them dearly but would like to use them (pto) for fun stuff too. Last week I took monkey 3 and 4 to the doctor they both had strep, then on friday took monkey 2- he had strep. This week Melissa (isn't it funny I didn't call her a monkey) hasn't felt well so she is going tomorrow. I don't think it is strep. No tonsils-of course I know it is possible to get strep but harder.
PS--Do you think 3 and 4 look sick? They are cute though.

Yellow baby quilts

I have been working on these 2 baby quilts since the race car quilt was finished. The duckie blanket was for Christina (phone operator where i work), she is due on mar 27. The bug one was for Mrs.Kirk (kindergarten teacher in my hallway). She had her baby 2 weeks early last week so i had to scramble and finish it. I did flowers in the squares. I loved the way they turned out. The duck one was my favorite- almost kept it but couldn't think of a good reason too. My kids are too big.
